THE MIDWAY VETERANS OF NO RIGHT TO WIN:

LCDR WILLIAM G. ROY, USNR-Retired

Left:  Bill Roy in 1941.  Right:  Roy in 2004

Bill Roy’s service aboard USS Yorktown at the Battle of Midway eventually made a major contribution to the history of the battle.  As a ship’s photographer, he took some of the best known pictures that have appeared in virtually every book on the BOM.  Those pictures now reside in the U.S. Navy’s archives and still are of primary interest to researchers, historians, and others with a strong interest in Midway.  For more on his service aboard Yorktown and how his vital photos survived the ship’s abandonment and sinking, click here.
